Staff at the railway company NS stopped work for the day in the central region that acts as a hub for almost all trainlines, halting trains across the country. Trade unions FNV, CNV and VVMC called a series of strikes on the rail network of Dutch Railways (NS) after negotiations on a new collective labour agreement broke down.
