According to their analysis, salaries will barely grow over the next five years following a period of already low growth. The figures show real wages are set to rise just 0.6% per year between now and 2026, giving an average worker an increase of just GBP 150 (EUR 178) a year. Despite low wage growth, the costs of goods and services has increased, rising particularly dramatically in 2021. The TUC also calls for an immediate rise of the minimum wage to GBP 10 (EUR 11.90) per hour.

Read on: in English. Read on: in English (2).

For more information, please contact Paul de Beer or Oana Ciuca, De Burcht (Scientific Bureau for the Dutch Trade Union Movement) p.t.debeer@uva.nl or the Head of communications at the ETUI, Mehmet Koksal mkoksal@etui.org.
