Despite efforts to close the gender wage gap, it\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.pewresearch.org\u002Ffact-tank\u002F2019\u002F03\u002F22\u002Fgender-pay-gap-facts\u002F\"> persists,\u003C\u002Fa> particularly in advanced industrial countries. In 2018, Iceland introduced the first policy in the country to require companies and institutions with more than 25 employees to prove that they pay men and women equally for a job of equal value. The policy is implemented through a job evaluation tool called the Equal Wage Management Standard, or simply ‘the system’.
