The riders were represented by the law firm Leigh Day. They argued that they had been unlawfully denied rights, including the legal minimum wage and paid holiday, after being labelled self-employed contractors. Earlier this month, the Independent Workers Union has been given the greenlight for a high court challenge over the employment rights of the Deliveroo riders. The IWGB wants the court to overturn a ruling that confirmed the self-employed status of those working for the delivery firm.
