Of those who worked less than 10 hours per week, 389,000 were employees and 203,000 were self-employed. The majority of people working for less than 10 hours a week did not work in the gig economy, but in traditional sectors such as personal services. Two out of three were women, mainly employed in personal services such as babysitters, carers or service activities related to personal care such as hairdressers, beauticians and wellness centres.
