In the first nine months of 2017 (compared with the same period of 2016) the employment increased, for instance, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 8.4%, in food and beverage service activities by 8% and in accommodation by 7.3%. The monthly wage increase was on average the highest in food and beverage service activities (8.9%, reaching 429 euro), retail trade (7.5% - 670 euro), transportation and storage (7.3% - 895 euro), industry (4.7% - 1,017 euro), sale and repair of motor vehicles (4.6% - 959 euro). Meanwhile, a total of 45,900 foreigners were officially working in Slovakia at the end of September 2017. Compared to the same date in 2016, this means an increase of 12,700 people. Workers are coming from Serbia, Romania and the Czech Republic.
