An analysis of the wage statistics (only available till 2014) reveals that the average gross wage increased with 2.2% compared to the year 2012. Wages in industry went beyond that level with a 2.7% increase, while services scored a modest 1.7%. The overall wage level was 1.5% higher than the level in neighbouring country Switzerland. The gender gap between men and women slightly decreased, but stayed substantial with 16.5% lower pay for women.
