The strike starting on April 18, was announced by two BKV unions after their demand for a 30 percent wage increase over three years was denied by the transit authority. A deal that was reached has led to a cancelling of the strike. Workers will receive a 15 percent wage hike this year. The pay increase, negotiated with the trade unions, will be financed by a 50-50 contribution from the city government and the transport authority.
