In the last 15 years the amount of strikes was only higher in 2005 (28) and 2006 (31). In total, 42,000 workers were involved in the 2015 strikes that had an average duration of 1.8 working days. The longest strike was organised by the police workers’ unions, whilst the most frequently envisaged sector was the manufacturing industry. More than 80% of the strikes were initiated by the trade unions. In 70% cases the unions were also involved in the negotiations that led to a solution of the dispute.
