Secondary school teachers will hold a day of strike action before the general election. Members of the TUI voted 89% in favour of industrial action over issues of pay and security of employment for young teachers. They say the stoppage will go ahead unless their demand for meaningful talks is met. The union says the poor pay and employment security for young teachers is forcing many of them into income poverty.
