The average hourly wage went down from €15.50 to €14.60. The wage decrease was the highest in IT (-8.5%) and banking (-7.9%), the lowest in tourism and gastronomy (-1%). The financial sector still has the highest proportion of high income earners, whilst workers in the tourism and gastronomy earn the lowest hourly wages (€10.40), with 22% of the workforce in tourism and gastronomy being paid at the level of the national minimum wage. In a reaction the trade union confederation FNV said that the report confirms that the crisis and the intensification of flex work have created hard times for workers.
