All indicators show that women’s participation in the work force and employment is rising year by year. Women’s economic independency is in progress but despite quantitative developments, a qualitative jump can be questioned. A report on the rate of participation from women and men in companies’ executive boards based on research conducted among 3002 chair persons in 427 companies showed that only 8.5% of board members are women. While the female director rate in supervision committees is 8.2%, the rate of female directors is 7% in corporate management committees.

English: http://www.disk.org.tr/2013/11/women-employment-in-turkey-shows-high-rise-but ...

For more information, please contact the editor Jan Cremers, Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies (AIAS) cbn-aias@uva.nl or the communications officer at the ETUI, Mariya Nikolova mnikolova@etui.org.
