With 23% of the population living at risk of poverty in 2011, as reported by the official statistics, the country comes second worst in this respect among the 34 countries covered by the EQLS. The Gini coefficient, a measure of income inequality, was 40.4 according to the country’s national statistical office (and 42 using income information from the EQLS, 2012).
