The negotiations are a traditional part of the “polder model” of economic policy making including all stakeholders. As part of the agreement negative proposals to change the unemployment benefits scheme will be reversed. The three signatories hope the accord will revive public confidence. A €4.3 billion raft of cuts planned for 2014 has been put on ice.
