Most flights in\r\nand out of the country were canceled. Hospitals provided emergency services\r\nonly and garbage was not collected. Workers chanting “let the banks pay” marched against\r\nausterity measures imposed by the government as a condition of the EU\u002FIMF\r\nbailout. Figures on the participation in the strike were not available, but\r\naccording to union leaders it was a greater mobilization of citizens than the\r\nNovember 2010 general strike in which some 3 million took part.
