Venezuela's cost of living was already spiralling. Then came a natural disaster

A month on from two devastating earthquakes, the World Bank estimates almost $20 billion USD of physical damage done, with 47% of it on residential buildings. But even before the quakes, housing costs for Venezuelan families jumped 57% in a single quarter (Q1 to Q2), according to WageIndicator’s Cost of Living database.
