Wage Indicator is one of the partners of the \u003Ca class=\"internal-link\" data-linktype=\"internal\" data-old_url=\"resolveuid\u002F9b6c8d42335949768f38ce354f87eb2b\u002Fdecisions-for-life\" data-val=\"9b6c8d42335949768f38ce354f87eb2b\" id=\"20731\" linktype=\"page\" title=\"Decisions for Life\">Decisions for Life project\u003C\u002Fa>.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The International Young Women's Conference has drawn together young women workers, trade unionists and media workers from around the globe, and was dedicated to the memory of Tabisa Sigaba, a DFL campaign leader and full time shop steward from SACCAWU (South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers Union). Tabisa was tragically killed in a car accident last year, but before her death one of the proposals she made was for a global young women's conference. The event in Amsterdam was held in memory of her passionate commitment to the empowerment of young women workers.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>The Decisions for Life International Young Women's Conference focussed on the successes of the DFL campaign, as well as identified challenges and looked at ways to move the campaign forward. Nearly 100 young women from eastern Europe, western Europe, southern Africa, India, Indonesia, China and the USA were represented at the conference.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Ch1>\u003Cspan class=\"kssattr-atfieldname-title kssattr-templateId-widgets\u002Fstring kssattr-macro-string-field-view\" id=\"parent-fieldname-title\">The Declaration of the Decisions for Life Young Women’s Conference \r\n        \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fh1>\n\u003Cp>9, 10 and 11 May 2011\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>We, participants at the 1st Decisions for Life Young Women \r\nConference, demand that the ITUC and UNI, and their affiliates and the \r\nWage Indicator, expand Decisions for Life to other country and fully \r\nsupports, integrates and mainstream Decisions for Life methods by:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\u003Cli>Building a modern trade unionism which is inclusive for young \r\nwomen and includes a young women centred approach reflected in trade \r\nunion policies, actions, structures and in the composition of its \r\nmembership and leadership – at all levels.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Helping to build \r\nspaces where young women feel safe to meet and talk and receive \r\neducation which assists them to make decisions in life. As a result \r\nyoung women get empowered, become leaders and improve their lives at \r\nhome, work , trade unions and in the society.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Support the ongoing organising of young women.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Providing\r\n to young women vital labour market  information about wages, salaries, \r\nlaw in national Wage Indicator websites plus in print, radio, television\r\n discussion, including trade union media resources and social networks. \r\nTo encourage young women to use the WageIndicator instruments.\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Supporting\r\n the Decisions for Life Network of young women, from the local to the  \r\ninternational level - which will build and support coalitions of men and\r\n women to move forward the gender equality agenda: at work and at home. \r\nThis will be achieved by  fighting and advocating for national laws \r\nand   its effective implementation, the ratification of ILO Convention \r\n183, 156, supporting the adoption of an ILO Convention on domestic \r\nworkers and by including clauses in collective bargaining agreements and\r\n alternative measures which aim at:\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cul>\u003Cli>More and decent jobs for young women , including precarious work\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Equal opportunities and rights\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Equal Pay\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Work\r\n – family balance, sharing of family responsibilities and more \r\nspecifically: Maternity\u002F paternity protection and social protection\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>To stop sexual harassment\u002F violence against women\u003C\u002Fli>\u003Cli>Support programs to prevent HIV\u002FAIDS\u003C\u002Fli>\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003Cli>To\r\n support a Decisions for Life International Action Day on Young Women’s \r\nRights and to take action on other international days such as 8 March.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cul>\u003C\u002Ful>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n","light",{"text":43,"link":44},"Contact us",{"title":43,"url":45,"description":43,"rel":46,"type":47,"id":48},"\u002Fabout\u002Fcontact","follow","internal",24590,[],[],[],[],[],false,"\u002Fwork\u002Fliving-wages\u002Fcontact-us","\u003Cp>Welcome to WageIndicator.
