As the Product Owner of SkillsCV,\u003Cstrong> Adinda Alvares\u003C\u002Fstrong> explained, ‘We regard people’s education and working experience with a look at what they're made of and combine that with an anonymous matching. This way, hiring managers will \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>look only at your skills: no photos, names, gender, age, or nationality\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>. Organizations should only think: hey, this is an interesting profile. Users can decide whether to share their data because they are the data owners.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cspan>SkillsCV was born only six months ago but has obtained many positive results: its matching process translates users’ experience into specific skills, giving people a greater validation of them. Secondly, it gives job seekers a \u003Cstrong>wider look at their capabilities\u003C\u002Fstrong>, boosting their confidence. And thirdly, Adinda reported that ‘organizations want to start thinking differently about how they do recruitment: a lot of \u003Cstrong>potential is not used right now\u003C\u002Fstrong> because workers and companies are not aware of it. Inequalities we find there are often replicated online since the \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>bias and prejudices are the same\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>. We’ve heard for years that women apply less frequently than men for paid work, and if they do, they work fewer hours due to their care responsibilities. So they are paid less.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli aria-level=\"1\">\u003Cspan>Considering the issues women face in the offline labor market, it is indisputable that \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>digital platforms offer many opportunities\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan> to them. Nonetheless, we need to consider the risks that come with finding opportunities.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli aria-level=\"1\">\u003Cstrong>Not all women have the same experiences in the gig economy. \u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>That’s why \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>we need more data \u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>in quantitative and qualitative terms on women working on digital labor platforms. Only once we have that data, we can start understanding what kinds of platforms work for women and what types of platforms don't.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli aria-level=\"1\">\u003Cspan>There is an urgent need for \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>more transparency about how these platforms are designed\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>, and how the algorithms are set up, because algorithms can be very biased. \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>Technology is not neutral\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan>, and it's not gender-neutral. Women can be getting engaged in this design process and also in the policy process. The debate is not entirely male-dominated.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli aria-level=\"1\">\u003Cspan>The \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Cstrong>asymmetry of power\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003Cspan> we often find in the platform economy is connected to information asymmetry.
